In 2008, the City of Aalborg has focused highly on its citizens’ health, and as an incentive a contest to find the most healthy institution, person or company in the community was arranged in June/July. The main themes were diet, smoking, alcohol and exercise.
Aalborg Industries in Aalborg won the gold medal because of its wide employee healthcare programme and activities to enhance the job satisfaction of its employees. Among others, the activities include a new exercise room, cheap fruit, health checks, physiotherapy, ergonomic advice, weight loss courses, gymnastics, non-smoking courses, etc.
The award included an amount of DKK 50,000 which immediately was doubled by the Management. The money will of course be spent on more health promotion for the employees.
