In 2006, Aalborg Industries A/S achieved a very satisfactory growth in both value of the year’s production and profit. The achieved profit before financing etc. of MDKK 243.5 is considered a most satisfactory development in the company.
During the year, the Group has further strengthened its leading position in the global marine market, especially in the oil and gas field, by acquiring two companies before the middle of the year: Smit Gas Systems in The Netherlands, which is global market leader in inert gas systems, with an annual value of the year’s production of some MDKK 400, and Gosfern in Australia, specializing in burners and control & safety systems for the marine market, with an annual value of the year’s production of some MDKK 100.
Aalborg Industries’ core business is to maintain, supply and maintain marine products such as steam boilers, thermal fluid heaters, burners, control systems as well as heat exchangers and inert gas systems. As a supplement to the activities in the global marine market, Aalborg Industries also supplies industrial boiler plants and services within selected sectors.
The close co-operation between the parent company in Denmark and its 15 subsidiaries in 13 countries has enabled Aalborg Industries to strengthen its competitive power through cost efficiency enhancement and, at the same time, ensured the important local proximity to its customers.
In relation to the sale of a subsidiary in 2002, the achieved profit before tax is negatively affected by MDKK 58 in 2006. The previous owners of the company subsequently compensated for this by reducing the final sales price of Aalborg Industries A/S.
Based on the historically large order book at the closing of 2006 and recent initiatives to improve the Group’s competitiveness, we also expect a positive development of the result in 2007.
The annual report for 2006 was approved by the board of directors at the general meeting on 12 April 2007. All board members were re-elected with Mr. Sigge Haraldsson as chairman, and the board members are Jørgen Ajslev, Bjarne Hansen, Denis Viet-Jacobsen, Harald Mix and Svend Sigaard. The members elected by the company employees are Kjeld Arendt, John Jørgensen and Henrik Riise.
