Aalborg Industries Ltd., Jiaozhou City, China
On 18 May 2005, the 8,275 square metre extension of our marine boiler factory in China was inaugurated.  After this extension Aalborg Industries has 24,000 square metre of production facilities in Jiaozhou City near Qingdao. It is the largest marine boiler factory in the world and it has a production capacity of more than 700 boilers a year.

After a welcome speech by the factory’s managing director, Mr. Svenn Frandsen, the inauguration speeches were made by His Excellence Laurids Mikaelsen, Denmark’s Ambassador to China, followed by the Vice Mayor of Qingdao, Mr. Zhang, the Mayor of Jiaozhou City, Mr. Cao, and from Aalborg Industries Mr. Jan Vestergaard Olsen, Group President.

The inauguration took place in glorious weather and after the ribbon cutting, the factory facilities were open for the invited guests.

Marine boiler production in Vietnam

On 12 May 2005, we had a ground breaking ceremony on the site of our new production facilities in the city of Hai Phong in Vietnam.

Denmark’s Ambassador to Vietnam, His Excellence Peter Lysholt Hansen, participated in the ground breaking ceremony along with Vice Chairman Mr Duong Anh Dien of the People's Committee of Hai Phong and Mr. Nguyen Anh, Vice President of VINASHIN (Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation) and Mrs. Pham Thu Han, Director of VINASHIN and Vice Chairman of the board of Aalborg Industries Co. Ltd. Aalborg Industries was represented by Mr. Kristen Langkjær, Managing Director of Aalborg Industries Co. Ltd., Vietnam

Hai Phong is one of northern Vietnam’s fastest growing industrial cities and enjoys the advantage of a deep-water port and proximity to the area’s largest shipyards. The factory is built by Aalborg Industries Co. Ltd. – a private limited company and joint venture between VINASHIN and Aalborg Industries. 

The factory under construction will consist of 2,300 sqm manufacturing facilities and 430 sqm administration and staff welfare facilities – the whole site is 17,000 sqm and there is thus room for extensions.

It is anticipated that the construction work will be finished by end of this year and that the first marine boilers can be produced in the beginning of 2006. The first year’s output is anticipated to be around 36 boiler units and the company will have 40 employees – however, the final capacity will be around 70 boilers/year.

With these extensions of our production capacity in the Aalborg Industries Group, we have further increased our competitiveness and established a strong position in the fast growing shipbuilding market in Asia.
